Ontario Remembrance Scholarship

Minimum GPA: n/a. On January 8, 2020, a Ukrainian airliner crashed near Tehran, Iran. Victims of the crash included 57 Canadians. Among the victims, 34 people were employed at or studying in universities and colleges in Ontario. In remembrance of the victims and to commemorate the talent that was lost, Ontario will continue to provide publicly-assisted postsecondary institutions with funding for dedicated scholarships for the 2023-2024 academic year (i.e., August 1, 2023 to July 31, 2024). The value of the scholarship is $10,000.

Ontario Ukraine Solidarity Scholarship

Minimum GPA: n/a. "In response to the Russian military invasion of Ukraine, on April 6, 2022, the province announced the creation of a $1.9 million Ontario-Ukraine Solidarity Scholarship to support students attending Ontario’s publicly assisted colleges and universities. The scholarship will be awarded to individual students through their college or university based on merit and financial need beginning in September 2022. The value of each scholarship is $10,000. Each institution will receive four (4) scholarships to award. The Ontario-Ukraine Solidarity Scholarship is available to students attending a publicly-assisted college or university in Ontario during the 2023-24 academic year. Residency status and/or citizenship is not a requirement for eligibility, however a student must be physically present in Ontario to qualify. Recipients must be enrolled in the Winter term and remain enrolled as a full-time or part-time student in an eligible program during the 2023-2024 academic year. Each applicant must demonstrate financial need. Upon determination of financial need, student applications shall be judged based on merit. Selected students must demonstrate merit that may include qualities such as academic achievement, community service, or perseverance of dedication to their education. Other suitable criteria constituting merit may be determined at the discretion of institutions. Merit must be demonstrated through a personal statement that is a mandatory component of the scholarship application. "

Student Indigenous Bursary (MCU)

Minimum GPA: n/a. The Indigenous Student Bursary is an award provided to self-identified Indigenous students with financial need who are attending postsecondary programs and/or training programs at either Ontario publicly-assisted colleges and universities.
