What is CIBC’s Student Pay Portal?

CIBC’s Student Pay Portal, also known as International Student Pay, is an online secure portal that allows all students to pay their tuition and fees in their preferred currency to Sheridan College. To access the portal, visit cibc.sheridancollege.ca.

This is Sheridan’s preferred method for international student payments.

Different payment options (e.g., Mastercard, Visa, Union Pay, bank wire) are available depending on your preferred currency.

Who can access CIBC’s Student Pay Portal?

All students and employees can log in using their Sheridan credentials to access the portal.

What has changed?

Domestic payments to Sheridan can now be made through the Student Pay Portal by direct debit, Mastercard and Visa.

You can now identify and pay for a variety of items through the Portal, such as, bursary repayments, residence, and testing fees.

How do the enhancements to the CIBC Student Portal benefit me?

Domestic payment options have increased, as you are now given the option of direct debit, Mastercard, and Visa through the Student Pay Portal when you pay your tuition and fees.

Students can clarify the intent of the payment before finalizing their transaction.

Can I still pay through my domestic bank account?

Yes, you can continue to pay through your domestic bank account. The enhancements to Student Pay Portal are not meant to replace methods of payment currently available, but to diversify and expand your payment options.

Are there any fees associated with using the Student Pay Portal?

Yes, convenience fees can apply when making payments through the Student Pay Portal. These fees are visible to you when you are selecting your method of payment (e.g., Mastercard, Visa).

A bank wire payment in an international currency will have a 1.25% administrative fee applied. When making your payment, this information is presented to you.

Refunds issued through the Student Pay Portal have a 1% service fee charged by CIBC.

Payments made through the Student Pay Portal are refunded back to the account of the original payment.

How long will it take my payment to be received by Sheridan?

Online payments generally take up to four business days to be applied to your Sheridan student account. You will be notified through your Sheridan student email account once your payment has been applied against your student account.

Interac e-Transfer

What is Interac e-Transfer?

Interac e-Transfer, also known as EMT, is an electronic means of sending money. It is a great alternative to cheques, as it enables a seamless, timely and reliable payment process.

How will I receive an Interac e-Transfer?

All Interac e-Transfers will be sent to your Sheridan student email account. You can deposit your funds into any Canadian bank account from your Sheridan student email.

If you need support accessing your Sheridan student email account, contact IT by calling 905-845-9430 ext. 2150 or visit Sheridan’s IT page. For support with depositing your funds to your Canadian bank account, please contact your financial institution.

We encourage you to setup auto deposit; however, if you do not have this functionality or prefer not to arrange this, you must use your Sheridan student ID as your password. Note that funds must be deposited into a Canadian bank account.

How long will it take for me to receive my award or refund?

Typically, it takes approximately six weeks for you to receive your award or refund from the time is it posted to your account. However, this timeline may vary depending on the time of year.

What happens if I don’t have a Canadian bank account?

If you don’t have a Canadian bank account, you will not be able to accept your Interac e-Transfer. You are encouraged to open a Canadian bank account to ensure that you can receive any bursaries, scholarships or awards payments, if you are eligible.

Which students will receive an Interac e-Transfer?

You will receive an Interac e-Transfer if you are an award, bursary or scholarship recipient and are eligible for payment (i.e., you do not have an outstanding balance on your account summary that is greater than or equal to the value of your award).

If you pay Sheridan directly through your Canadian bank and are eligible for a refund (e.g., dropped a course; overpaid) you will receive your refund via Interac e-Transfer.

If you paid through CIBC’s Student Pay Portal, you will be refunded through your original method of payment.

Does my Interac e-Transfer expire?

Yes, you must accept the deposit within 30 days of the original email notification. After 30 days have passed, the Interac e-Transfer expires.

What happens if my Interac e-Transfer expires?

If your Interac e-Transfer expires, you must contact studentrefunds@sheridancollege.ca to request that it be re-issued. Please send the email from your Sheridan student email account and include your student ID.

Is Sheridan still issuing cheques?

No new cheques will be issued to students; however, if you have a cheque from Sheridan that is dated within the last six months, you may still cash it.
